Chester Masonry Construction
Ltd - Group Overview
Specialist Building Contractors Accredited in Historic Building
Conservation
Chester Masonry Group was established in 1979 by brothers Hugh and
Geoff Moore. The group has expanded significantly over the past
quarter century and employs almost seventy staff, but is still very
much a family business. Both Hugh & Geoff's two sons and two
daughters have joined the company.
Today, Chester Masonry Construction Ltd ranks amongst
the UK's most respected historic building conservation and restoration
specialist contractors. We have worked on hundreds of listed buildings,
churches and monuments across the UK for clients including English
Heritage, Cadw, The National Trust, The Church of England &
Wales and countless other specialist interest groups and building
trusts.
Acting as Principal Contractor, conservation-restoration work is
at the forefront of the Group's activities - indeed it is our principal
activity. Although we are now a limited company, the concept and
principals of the Group are still our guiding light.
Over and above our main area of work, we offer a full design and
build service for new buildings, interiors and refurbishment. We
also carry out consultancy work and offer reports and technical
advice.
The Group of Companies
Our Group now consists of a number of companies in their own right:
CMC Masonry Profiling - 24-hour production facility
CMC Project Safety Ltd - Planning Supervision and Safety Consultants
Linley Stained Glass Studios - Conservation, Restoration & Commissions
Heritage Guards - Stainless Steel Window Guards for Ecclesiastical
Buildings
JKA Productions - Conservation-aware IT & Internet Solutions
The Conservators Approach
The Group consists of seventy craftsmen and women, all of whom are
individual specialist conservators-restorers, covering all the main
areas of building conservation and repair. The unique set up thus
allows us to accept contracts for work over a wide range of specialist
building projects.
This holistic approach to building works is one that we believe
to be essential. Bringing skills together in such a way ensures
that our approach to conservation work is always well informed -
guided by expertise, experience and a solid base of skilled craftsmen.
Skills
Our most valuable resources are our craftsmen, all of whom possess
traditional skills - skills that are becoming more and more rare.
As a company, we are committed to addressing this issue through
promoting apprenticeships, CPD, sponsored vocational training and
academic higher education, with the aim of developing a solid understanding
of conservation and restoration work throughout our staff.
This Site
Our website contains a wealth of information about the company and
